The 12 Year Old Rare Casks is made from rare hand-selected rums, all of which are aged for a minimum of 12 years – truly encapsulating the craft and passion of Master Blender Joy Spence. A smooth and sophisticated expression of aged rum, revealing aromas of toasted oak, dried fruit and hazelnut, followed by notes of dark cocoa, delicate molasses, orange peel, rich vanilla and hints of coffee. A deep bronze in colour, with a honeyed gold ring of age and long, bittersweet and luscious finish. Made in the Nassau Valley, a lush and fertile terrain in the heart of Jamaica – here, is where every drop of the pot and column still rum used in the Appleton Estate 12 Year Old Rare Casks is aged, for minimum of 12 years in the tropical climate of Jamaica, giving it a smoother, fuller flavour. Ideal for sipping or using in a variety of refined, elegant cocktails. Try lightly muddling Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans, stir with 12YO Rare Casks over ice and finally straining into a rocks glass with one large ice cube, whole coffee beans to garnish. Like all of our Appleton Estate rums, the 12 Year Old Rare Casks adheres to the highest standard of rum production. Using non-GMO molasses and yeast, distillation using only Jamaican limestone-filtered water, no artificial colours, sweeteners or additives to influence the taste and aroma and reflects our commitment to both tropical and minimum ageing.
