SMART – SLEEK – INNOVATIVE
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Phones have become an essential part of life. They are there when we wake and the last thing we see before sleep. The integration of the phone into our daily lives has become inseparable. One area where the phone did not integrate well was while driving. With more and more accidents being recorded due to people handling their phones, a simple and cost effective universal solution was needed. The problem with many existing mounts is that they were traditionally made of cheap plastic and functioned as a ‘clamp’, with complex moving parts that often broke and did not fit all phone types. These clamp style mounts also required two hands to attach, something which put people off from mounting their phones before their journey. They also used large windscreen suction cups which often blocked the view of the road. Our solution was to create a small magnetic phone mount that could attach in a variety of positions on the dashboard allowing the user to find the perfect angle to keep the phone in view and the eyes on the road.
What makes your product special?
We use powerful Neodymium magnets that are strong enough to safely attach your phone but importantly do not cause any interference with your device’s compass or GPS sensors. With the Wuteku mount the magnet stays on the mount with only a non-magnetic metal disc being attached to your case or phone, so no chance of any credit cards being wiped in your pocket! Much testing has been done to find the perfect adhesive that is strong and heat resistant. We use the top spec 3M VHB (Very High Bond) that will stick to the majority of car interiors but at the same time can be fully removed without leaving any marks.
What has been the best part of your experience?
We often use ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft. Seeing our product in use by these professional drivers and hearing their feedback has been immensely rewarding!
